Name: Brock Andrew Maddox
Work Place: Police Station; Inspector
Age: 36
Personality: Ambitious, jealous, greedy, arrogant, and promiscuous are all adjectives that aptly fit Brock Maddox. While he may be on the police force, he is mainly in it for the money and the perception of power – a prime example of a crooked cop. However, he tries not to make it too obvious lest his superiors somehow arrange for him to be removed from the squad. Yet he does quite often request to investigate any complaints received regarding the casino... Brock is most assuredly not a pleasant man. His son, Jason, whom has limited superpowers, knows this quite well firsthand. Brock is extremely envious of anyone with superpowers, resulting in him being even nastier to their civilian persona in the event he finds out...
Marital Status: Single, though does have children from past “relationships”
Children: Belinda (19), Elizabeth (16), and Jason (14). Only has custody of Jason. Pays child support to the mothers of Belinda and Elizabeth.
Appearance: Brock stands nearly six feet tall, though with his hairstyle resembling that of a combination buzz cut and flat-topped mowhawk one would assume he stands about six feet and three inches. Like his brother Zayne, his hair is brown-black in color. Unlike his younger brother, the hair is kept stock still with a variety of products. His eyes are hazel but do not change with the lighting.
At work he is not required to wear a uniform and thus performs his duty wearing clothes typical of business casual wear. When he needs to wear protective gear he does, generally underneath his typical navy blue duster. He carries two firearms on him at all times: one holstered behind his back, and the other on his left ankle. Colors of his clothing vary rather extensively.
History: For a detailed description of Brock’s family background, see profiles for
Zayne and/or
Rhodri Maddox.
From the moment Brock was born, Isaac knew the child was destined to be a scrapper. The infant had so much energy, and a very powerful set of lungs. As his brothers followed, it became clear that this boy was the “alpha” child of the figurative pack. Unfortunately, this most often manifested itself by way of bullying.
When his two youngest brothers began showing signs of having powers, Brock tried his hardest to find out what his powers were. Surely, if those two had powers, then he must as well? But no... no powers manifested. Brock was just as normal as the rest of the civilian populace. One who had grown up a Super and had to deal with being teased for having powers would probably say it was a good thing, but Brock was extremely jealous. So jealous, in fact, that he came to distrust anyone or thing that had an ‘abnormal’ talent... almost to the point of hatred. In his eyes, it was just fate’s way of mocking his normality further. And so, with Jake in tow, the two boys often harassed their brothers in hopes maybe they’d beat some of the superpowers out of them. They were roughest on Zayne, for Rhodri was far too well watched to do much of anything without their parents noticing. Manipulation and intimidation, however, were practically invisible. Brock was best at intimidation.
Though Brock was rather popular in school, he was rather unlucky in love. Part of this is his fault, often having multiple girlfriends at one time. Shortly after graduation, he and then-girlfriend Ashley were the proud parents of a baby girl, Belinda Maddox. Six months later the pair broke up, and Ashley filed for sole custody of Belinda. Free and clear, Brock went off to Superville’s Police Academy. While there, he met and fell in love with a woman named Bianca. They shared a dorm... and things got serious... though turned for the worst when Bianca was about seven months pregnant with their child. When the child was born, Brock was notified that he was the father of yet another baby girl, whom the mother named Elizabeth. Bianca, like Ashley, made sure to gain sole custody of the child. Both even demanded he pay child support. Brock does so semi-willingly.
Not long afterward, Brock was at it again with another partner. Her name was Chloe. For two years they stayed together, had a son whom they named Jason, and there was talk of Brock actually considering to propose to this one. Late one night he was notified that his fiancé was in the hospital, and he needed to be there on the double. When Brock got there, he couldn’t find the room that contained his soon-to-be wife. He tracked down a nurse, who led him straight to the correct room...
... only to find a woman dressed in a super’s outfit in the bed Chloe was supposed to be in.
Everything broke apart that night. They fought, with Brock declaring the relationship through. He had wanted, like as had happened with the other children, for Chloe to take Jason and be done with it. Two days after the fight, however, Chloe passed away in pain and in her sleep. Despite the bitterness, Brock kept the child of barely three years but things had changed severely from that day forward. It continued to change as the boy, like his mother before him, demonstrated a unique talent that can only be summed up in one word: superpowers.
At present Brock is an inspector with the Superville Police Department, and his son Jason has recently turned 14. The inspector has just recently discovered his “baby” brother just got a new job...
A new chapter of the Maddox Family unfolds.
