The Training Room

Max giggled "Great minds think alike" was all she said in reply. "I don't suppose you fancy helping me with some barrier training do you? I've been working more on attack recently, but what with all these pipes bursting, it would probably be a good idea if I could help Mari with containing them"

"Oh sure, what can I do to help?" Lisa said.

"Well, I suppose just hurl as many plasmoids as you can manage at me, and I'll try to block them all. Although that's not much like a real fight situation, so perhaps we ought to just have a friendly fight?"
~

"So friendly fight it is," Lisa smiled.

"So, are you ready?" Lisa's hands started to glow.

((Are we continuing this in the Arena?))

"Ready" Max grinned, crouching into ready position and beginning to hum softly

"Ready." Lisa smiled.

The gentle hum had created a barrier around her, hopefully blocking any surprise plasmoids Lisa might throw at her

Lisa threw several plasmoids, on medium power at Max.

The barrier blocked the majority of plasmoids, but the final one got through, singing Max on the arm as she leapt sideways out of its path. Humming a little louder, she enforced the barrier around her and prepared to have to leap out of the way again
~

"Oh are you okay?" Lisa said flying up.

"Yeah fine, it's only a flesh wound! I just need to figure out a way of strengthening my barriers without using my voice, so far the majority of other sounds won't work for enforcing it, since it needs to come from inside my body rather than an external force - I'd be done for if I ever got a cold"

"Another reason why someone should create a cure for the common cold." Lisa joked.

"I think we ought to get Mari on it" Max agreed with a smile. "Okay, I'm gonna try putting my barrier up again, but I'm going to try and use the sound of my feet on the ground while I'm running and see if that works - so if you could try plenty of plasmoids but fairly weak ones, if that's possible?"

"Sure is," Lisa said. "I can control their power."

Lisa moved backwards. And threw half-a-dozen plasmoids, relatively weak at Max's direction.

As she was running, a few plasmoids missed Max anyway, but the ones that did hit her barrier were easily deflected. "All right! This seems to be working! Try them a little more powerful?"

Lisa threw more plasmoids at Max this time with a little more kick.

All of them bounced off her shields at the same rate, and the only energy Max was needing to expend was to keep her running. She held up her hand for a time out, and bent over, panting slightly and trying to catch her breath. "This is good! I think I've managed to get a really interesting balance between sounds made by me or conatined within me and sounds made outside of me." she thought for a moment "Okay then, let's see how long it'll hold up after I've stopped making the noise, keep it coming with the plasmoids!"

"Sure thing," Lisa said.

Zimp, zimp, zimp, Lisa threw plasmoids at Max.

Running a few more steps, Max leapt off the ground, attempting to keep the barrier in place without the sound of her feet thumping on the floor, it lasted several plasmoids; just enough time for Max to leap upwards and take a swing at Lisa - not that it was aimed to hit of course, she just needed to make sure she wouldn't fry before she was able to make contact with whatever opponent she might be facing.

Readily, Lisa manuvered herself to block Max's attack.

"Hey, that was pretty good," Lisa commented.

"Thanks!" Max beamed, "I think I've got something I can work with there, it'll take a little more development, but you've been a huge help" glancing briefly at her watch, Max blanched and almost snapped to attention. "Oh no! I'm going to be late for work! Thank you so much Lisa, you've been a huge help - I definitely owe you one"

"No problem Max," Lisa said. "Just tell me if you want more help."

"I'll let you know!" Max beamed, gathering her things hurriedly and dashing from the room, muttering 'late again' under her breath.

Mal walked in, and slumped to the ground. Life sucked. She looked at the knife shaped barrier she had taken to carrying in her mind at all times. It had formed in her hand. Should she?

She placed the gods-forsaken thing on her left wrist. She let the barrier press slightly into her wrist. The damn thing dissolved back into her mind, or wherever her barriers came from. She didn't want Jamie or Lynnie to know. She had told them she had gotten over her depression long ago.

Mal missed her mother, even though she was with her mother in the past, her father, her sister. She even missed the damn graveyard.

Malorie Seaton might have seemed like the perfect poster child for a director of a hospital and a reporter, but inside, the emotions were swirling more than her uncle Jon's powers.

Lisa Prince walked in the training room surprised to see someone already there.

"Mal?" Lisa said walking over to her. She noticed Mal seemed to be off... "Are you alright?"
