The Graveyard

Harry shrugged and held out a green glowing hand. "Ta-dah. Nothing that spectacular." He paused. "Well, not unless I decide to do something."

Phil held out purple fire. "See? Tol' ye 'twas similar."

Harry sighed. "That mean you know how to use it? All I know is that it comes when I want it."

Phil cut herself on the back of the arm with the power-knife. "It'll heal." She healed her arm. She took a ball of it and threw it at a tree. "Blows stuff up." And laid a hand on Harry's shoulder. "It'll g've ene'gy." She felt a bit drained.

Harry nodded, absorbing the information before trying it himself.

Phil said, "Nah, ye heal like th's." She showed him the proper way, not the shortcuts she used.

Harry nodded and copied the proper way to heal.

Phil grinned. "'Tis wired t' train me cousin."

Rune decided she'd heard enough. She started to creep away when her arm caught on something sharp, scratching it and tearing her sweater.

"Bloddy hell!" she said, exasperated. It wasn't the cut so much as it was the sweater. She didn't have enough money to replace it, nor to buy materials to fix it. "There goes a perfectly good jumper!"

Rune realized she'd said that out loud, and stood straight, blushing. She nodded to her sleeve, "Shame, that." After listening to that girl, Rune's British accent didn't seem so thick anymore.

Phil jumped at the voice. "Nee' som' 'elp?" she asked, moving closer to the woman. She dragged an unwilling Harry. "Can't fix th' jumper, but I can fix th' scratch."

Rune shook her head, coming forward to meet them. "It'll heal on it's own. It's not that bad."

As she reached the two, she touched their foreheads, one after the other. "Hmph. Nothin'. Not even a bloody Twitch. For either of you. Some external stimuli you turned to be."

Phil blinked. "Sti-Sti... Sti- wha'? Twitch? Yer a 'ero?" she asked, stuttering a bit. "Were ye th' one I 'eard e'rlier?" she questioned. "Ye can c'me w'th us, 'ome, either to 'arry's or mine. Ma won't c're."

Rune put her hand on her hips. "I am not a hero, I'm an bloody oracle. Technically, that means I'm neutral." Rune tilted her head and stuck her hand out. "Name's Rune."

Phil raised her hands. "Well, sorry!" she said, sarcastically. She had inherited that from her mother. "I j'st meant to 'elp. Name's Phil. Philipa, r'lly. 'ate it tho. Phil, please."

Harry nearly laughed at the exchange. "Hey, I'm Harry. We're cousins."

"Yeah," Rune said. "I heard." She nodded to the spot where she'd be eavesdropping. Then she winced. "Ow, oh I hate that one," she said, rubbing her temples. "It's not like I haven't seen it a billion times. The Super Nova, end of our univers," she explained to the people in front of her. "Don't expect it to happen for another few billions of years, considering the human race is extinct by the time it happens."

Phil blinked. What would Mal do. "'r' ye lookin' fer Lisa Prince?" she asked. "Sh's me adoptive auntie. But not really. Ma always called Lisa th' sister sh' ne'er 'ad. Uncle Jon always called her the sister he never 'ad, but wanted to 'ave. Ma hits 'im upside the 'ead fer tha'. Sh's been dead 20 years now," Phil said. "'er kids just went missing."

Phil didn't know why, but she felt as if she could trust this girl.

But, then again, Phil was just a ten year old girl.

Harry didn't say much, just watched. Ready to do whatever was needed, because he trusted Phil to know what to do.

"And you know what happened to them, don't you?" Rune said to the two of them. She had heard as much when she was eavesdropping.

She felt another Twitch... no, it was different, something she'd never felt before, like a shift.

Phil nodded. "I do... Sh's m' sis'er. I'm sup'osed 'o. Jamie 'n' Mal 'r' da'ing. Lyn's close t' Ma."

"Are you going to tell me?" Rune asked. It wasn't really any of her buisness, but she was burning with curiosity.

"'r't ye an or'cle?" Phil asked, throwing the words back at Rune.

Rune scowled at Phil. "It's bloody complicated, kay? I can't control any vision further than three seconds. Once I forced myself to see five seconds and I bloody near died of an apopelexy! Don't ask me to try again."

Phil shrugged. "Wha'e'er. They're in th' pas'. Mal's bein' stupi' 'bout it. Leas' Lynnie was. Lyn was th' one t' drag Jamie 'n' Mal back wit' 'er. 'm sure sh' didna mean t'. Sh' wan's t' save 'er Ma. Can't says how I blame 'er."

"Lisa Prince? What was so special about her anyway?" Rune asked, sharply. She mentally winced at her tone. She hadn't meant to be so sharp, but a combination of her irritation at a group of complete simpletons who had to go messing with time and a cluelessness about what was going on in her one and only vision of Lisa Prince had apparently given her fangs.

Still, she didn't apologize.

The bullet's aim was true. It would have gone straight through Lacklusture's heart if there hadn't been an obsticle in it's way. Mari dropped the gun in horror as the two people in front of her fell to the floor, one on top of the other. Everyone was screaming. Everyone except the figure on top of Lisa. She was dead.

Lynnie refused to let her mother die a second time.

Rune stared at the two people in front of her in horror.
